2012 Dent Olympic Rules
(may be subject to change for
2013)
1.
Contestants may enter twice
provided they have pre registered
and time
and logistics allow for it.
2.
There is a $75.00 fee per dent. It
is highly recommended contestants
pre register for
a spot to compete. However, dents
must be paid for to be guaranteed
a spot. Contestants that choose to
enter at the show will only be
allowed to compete based on time
and logistics. There is a limited
amount of time contestants can
work on the vehicle during the
show hours and there is also a
limited amount of space for dents
on the vehicles...
3.
Dents will be on a first come
first served basis once the show
has started so if you wait to
register to compete at the show
will be based on time permitting.
4.
Dents will be randomly assigned by
a numbering system that the
Contestant will receive from the
Expo registration desk.
5.
Three vehicles will be available
for contestants to work on. One
contestant per side of the
vehicle. All the dents will be in
open areas of the doors and will
be made with a golf ball on a
hammer handle, or with air cannon.
6.
Some tools will be available at
the show, but it is highly
recommended you bring your own
favorites, as well as, a lighting
reflection system. Most vendors
will be happy to allow you to use
tools for the contest.
7.
All dents will be repaired inside
the exhibit hall and electrical
outlets will be provided for your
lighting system. If using 12v,
make sure you bring clamp system
to plug into battery on vehicle or
bring your own battery source.
(vehicles will be unplugged during
show hours)
8.
Drilling is NOT allowed on Dent
Olympic vehicles.
9.
Sanding will result in
disqualification. No Sanding.
10.
Contestants will be allowed 45
minutes per dent. Contestants will
receive a warning by one of the
Olympic supervisors during the
last 10 minutes to give them a
heads up to hurry to get the dent
flat.
11.
Each dent will be judged three
times, once right after dent is
finished by the head judge or
assistant judge, the other two
times will be at the end of each
day.
12.
As soon as you arrive at the show
and have registered for the
Olympics you will draw a number at
the front counter. Then after
entering the show, proceed
immediately to the Olympic area
and sign up for your time to work
the dent(s). (Time restraints
require IMMEDIATE check in)
13.
Arrive at least 10 minutes
before your start time. Your
allotted time will start 5 minutes
after your scheduled start time,
regardless if you are there or
not. Late arrivals will have
whatever time is still left to
complete their dent.. If you miss
your time slot your dent and entry
fee will be forfeited!
14.
Prizes will be announced at the
show.
15.
There will be six judges as well
as Tommy Clayton, each dent is
judged by 7 sets of eyes then
placed in order.
16.
There will be no coaching during
the event! 1 warning will be
given. Second time will result in
disqualification! If you are good
enough to enter this contest you
should be good enough to finish
the dent on your own! DO
NOT MAKE US ENFORCE THIS RULE!
You will be judged on the quality
first and if there is a tie then
speed of your repair. There is a
45 minute allotment for you to
complete the repair on your dent.
All dents must be finished no
later than 3:30pm on Saturday.
Quality, speed, professionalism
and prompt arrival for your
scheduled time slot all play an
Important part on the judges
minds.
Good luck
and enjoy the show.
